Fairy Tale PowerPoint Exercise
Chapter 22 in your textbook (Technical Communication in the Twenty-First Century, 2nd ed.) discusses how to structure and give presentations, and in class, we have discussed various concepts behind designing effective PowerPoint presentations. Your job is now to take that information and apply it.
Scenario
You are an employee of a small company that creates custom PPT presentations. You have been hired to prepare a 5-7 minute PPT in which you present a well-known fairy tale to a specific target audience.
Deliverable (1)
Your group will be assigned one of the following fairy tales:
- Rapunzel
- Hansel and Gretel
- Rumpelstiltskin
- Little Red Riding Hood
- The Red Shoes
- The Princess and the Pea
- The Gingerbread Man
- Bluebeard
- Three Billy Goats Gruff
Analyze the assigned audience's characteristics and create a 5–7 minute PPT in which you tell the assigned story using images and language that relate to your audience's characteristics. You may change any specific element of the story that you see fit, as long as the plot does not change.
When the exercise is complete, your group will present this PPT to the rest of the class. Every member of your group must deliver roughly equal parts of the presentation.
Submission Requirements
Save the document in PowerPoint 2003 (.ppt) format, and use the following file naming convention, including spaces:
GroupMembers'LastNames - SectionNumber - Fairy Tale PPT
for example...
Cey, Goettel, Ogre - 001 - Fairy Tale PPT
After your group has presented the PPT in class, email me (arnett2010@gmail.com) the PPT as an attachment. Use the following subject line convention, including the spaces:
TCOM 2010-SectionNumber - Fairy Tale PPT
If I do not receive your group's PPT on the same day you present it in class, the entire assignment will be considered late.
